The iconic band Blondie is honoring the memory of their late drummer Clem Burke on the one-year anniversary of his passing at age 70.
In a heartfelt social media tribute, the band reflected on the loss, writing, “It is difficult to believe a year has passed… there is a hole in our hearts. Yet his energy lives on—vibrant, resonating in ways we can’t fully understand.” They added, “You are deeply missed,” alongside a photo of Burke.
Blondie first announced Burke’s death on April 7, 2025, sharing that he had passed away following a private battle with cancer. Band members Debbie Harry and Chris Stein paid tribute at the time, describing him as “the heartbeat of Blondie” whose talent, passion, and energy were unmatched.

Born Clement Anthony Bozewski, Burke joined Blondie in 1975 shortly after the band formed in New York City. Over the decades, he became an essential part of their sound, performing on every album, including their most recent release, Pollinator (2017). His contributions helped shape the band’s enduring success and influence in rock music.
In recognition of his impact, Burke was inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame with Blondie in 2006.
Looking ahead, Blondie is expected to release a new album, High Noon, in 2026, with Chris Stein noting that Burke contributed to the project before his passing—ensuring that his musical legacy continues to resonate with fans around the world.
