TEXAS CITY, Texas — A family has been left devastated after a large house fire destroyed their home and claimed the life of a pet on Monday evening.
According to the Texas City Fire Department, crews responded to multiple 911 calls reporting a two-story house fire on Silvercrest Drive. When firefighters arrived, heavy flames and smoke were already coming from the second floor.
Due to the intensity of the blaze, crews initially shifted to a defensive strategy before additional units arrived. Firefighters worked for more than an hour to bring the fire under control, with assistance from neighboring departments.
All residents inside the home were able to escape safely. However, officials confirmed that a family pet died in the fire.
The cause of the fire remains under investigation, and authorities have not yet confirmed how many people were inside the home at the time.
