ATLANTA, Ga. — A 36-year-old woman was found shot to death inside an SUV parked in the middle of a street early Wednesday morning, according to police.
Officers with the Atlanta Police Department responded to a shots fired call around 1:23 a.m. on Springside Place in southeast Atlanta. When they arrived, they discovered a Range Rover stopped in the roadway.
Inside the vehicle, officers found the woman seated in the driver’s seat suffering from multiple gunshot wounds. She was pronounced dead at the scene. Authorities have not yet released her identity pending notification of next of kin.
Investigators say there is currently no description of a suspect, and it remains unclear whether another vehicle was involved in the shooting.
Police are canvassing the area and attempting to speak with residents in hopes of gathering information about what led up to the incident.
“The early hours are typically hard to get into contact with some people, but we are working the scene and trying to make sense of what happened,” a police official said.
The investigation remains ongoing as authorities work to determine the circumstances surrounding the deadly shooting.
Anyone with information is urged to contact the Atlanta Police Department.
